How to care for your wood salad bowl

Taking care of your new wood salad bowl from Knots To Bowls can be achieved by taking a few important steps.

First I will tell you what not to do with any real wooden bowl.
#1 Never put your bowl in the microwave oven.
#2 Do not put it in the dishwasher.
#3 try to keep It out of strong direct sunlight.

Simply wash the bowl with warm soapy water, then dry with a soft cloth, or a paper towel.

After you have used your bowl for 2-4 months, you then may wipe some food grade mineral oil on the bowl with a paper towel, leave the oil sit for 5 Min's. then wipe the bowl dry.
You may see the new bowls that I'm creating in my shop here,New bowls

Getting That Nice Finish On A Wood Bowl

Getting that great finish on a good bowl takes some time, And effort
The sanding Is the most Important thing to pay attention to, Then the application of your finish.
Most of my finishes are natural oil, So they do take time to soak In and cure.
Here are some wood burl bowls that I'm working on, some of the burls come from Australia, and others may come from local areas here In Ontario.
Later on today I will add the 2ND coat of natural finish to the bowl I'm working on, then  with some light sanding with very fine 3000 grit sandpaper, then I will add the last coat.
Also some of my burl  bowls have some natural edges on them still, This makes this a great conversation piece, As well as being a functional art bowl.
